“Transmission of the Rosslyn Chapel”, personal ceremonial immersion

2023, Nashville, Tn

This was a personal, ceremonial immersion I created as a result of events that occurred in the fall of 2023 in Roslin, Scotland.  A veiled sculpture merges two important spiritual mothers, Mother Mary and Isis into a single presence suspended before a sacred mirror altar, adorned with Lisianthus flowers. As they gaze into the mirror, they radiate blue light of peace from the center of their head.

On a pilgrimage to Scotland, I found myself at the Rosslyn Chapel, also called The Lady Chapel.  It is a place famous for its stone carvings of green men, roses and statue of Mother Mary. This chapel has mystified many throughout the ages as a place with hidden ancient wisdom embedded in the stone carvings.

During my visit, I found myself alone, surrounded  by intense feminine energy.  I experienced a very powerful interaction  when I began to sing to the statue.  As the tones went higher, a cyclical energy exchange began to occur. The energy inside my body became so intense that I felt a sharp pain at the base of my skull in the place that has been called the “zeal point" or “mouth of god” chakra.  It is a place considered to be a divine communication center.  Activation of this chakra enhances intuition, spiritual insight and a connection to higher consciousness. I fell to the floor and heard, very clearly, that Mary and Isis were deeply connected.

Upon my return to Nashville, I began researching the mysteries surrounding the chapel and the mother goddesses.  Creating this immersion was a way for me to feel and discover for myself what these goddesses had to say to me.  On the evening of Samhain, viewed as a liminal period when the veil between the physical world and the spirit realm is at its thinnest, I entered into a ceremony space for this purpose.  I felt such a strong pillar of peace in the room that night like I had not experienced before.  It wasn’t a soft peace, but an extremely solid feeling, similar to a quartz crystal or white marble.

Three days later, I moved the mirror and turned the sculpture toward a large window facing outdoors.  I went to look from the outside and noticed the clouds were reflecting across the glass, creating a celestial veil over the figure. As I photographed the moment, I noticed something unexpected: the sculpture’s profile appeared on the right side of the image, while the clouds formed a second profile on the left in the shape of a woman's face. The fleeting alignment created the impression of two feminine presences in quiet dialogue, revealing a moment of mystery and synchronicity within the work.
